30th May 2010 - Japan 1-2 England
England finished there preparations for the World Cup with a 2-1 victory over Japan in Austria. Japan took the lead through Tanka in the 7th minute in front of a crowd of over 15,000. But that didn't stop the England fans getting behind there team, in stark contrast to the McClaren era where the crowd would of turned against the team at this point. England's football at times wasn't the best and Fabio Capello made changes for the second half.
Frank Lampard missed a penalty before Tanka, who scored the opening goal, put one in his own net to make it 1-1. England won the match in the 83rd minute when Nakazawa got on the end of Ashley Cole's ball across the face of goal. So England win a match with Japan scoring all 3 goals. 9th April 2010 - Rooney out for Blackburn game
Sir Alex Ferguson managed to fool the world into believing Wayne Rooney was more injured than first thought but maybe he got it wrong. There's no denying Wayne didn't look right against Bayern Munich and now he is definitely out for the Blackburn game. The United front man is expected to be back in time for the Manchester derby on April 17th.
7th April 2010 - Rooney injury latest
Wayne Rooney will miss tonight's Champions League match at home to Bayern Munich.
The England International was injured in the first leg and there were fears he could be out for a month with ankle ligament damage. However the 34 goal striker has made good progress and is expected to be back much sooner although Fergie won't rush him.
31st March 2010 - Bayern Munich 2-1 Man Utd
Manchester United lost the first leg of there Champions League quarter final tie in Germany and of more concern was the injury to Wayne Rooney. It was a match that resembled the Final of this competition a few years ago but only in reverse. It was Rooney that gave United the best possible start, side footing Nani's corner into the roof of the net after just 2 minutes. One of the most wanted men in Europe Franck Ribery drew the sides level when his free kick took a wicked deflection before finding it's way past the helpless Van der Sar. Then as retribution for the 1999 final Bayern Munich scored in injury time through Olic. United have the crucial away goal to take back to Old Trafford but the injury to Rooney will concern Sir Alex the most. We await the results of Wayne's scan.
28th November 09 - Portsmouth 1-4 Man Utd
Wayne Rooney scored a hat trick as United ran emphatic winners at Fratton Park. Avram Grant could have had better starts to his managerial career with Portsmouth, while the red devils clocked up an historic 2,000th league win. United took the lead through a Wayne Rooney penalty after Michael Brown brought down Wazza in the 25th minute. Portsmouth then responded after they were given a bizarre penalty decision which Boateng tucked away on 32 minutes.
United retook the lead early in the second half when a long ball over the top found Ryan Giggs whose pass found Rooney for his second on 48 minutes. Giggs was involved in the third with his work down the left twisting and turning before Frederic Piquionne finally brought him down. Rooney stepped up to score his hat trick low into the bottom right hand corner. Ryan Giggs wrapped the game up with three minutes to go with a free kick just outside the box.
15th November 09 - Brazil 1-0 England
Wayne Rooney captained England for the first time as England took on the current number one ranked side Brazil in Qatar. England were without a whole host of first team players including Gerrard, Lampard, Terry and Ferdinand. The young England side failed to create a spark to open up the Brazilian's defense.
Nilmar gave the South Americans the lead on 47 minutes with a superb header latching onto Elano's inch perfect ball over the top. Ben Foster was lucky to finish the match after he brought down Nilmar in the penalty area. Luis Fabiano blazed the spot kick high over the bar.
17th October 09 - Injury Update
Wayne Rooney picked up a calf strain playing for England in the 1-0 defeat in the Ukraine last Saturday. The Manchester United and England forward will miss today's game with Bolton and Fergie is hoping he will return in time for the Champions League group game against CSKA Moscow. Although Fergie may not decide to risk him with United set to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

7th July 09 - New Strike Partnership
Wayne Rooney will have a new attacking line to work with at Manchester United next season. Following the departures of Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo manager Alex Ferguson has brought in Antonio Valencia and Michael Owen. Rooney has played many times with Owen at international level and if the new signing can stay fit the two players will be very effective together. United still have Berbatov of course who will be looking to improve on a disappointing first season at Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo paid tribute to his former team mate Wayne Rooney saying that he would die for Manchester United. Reports are emanating that Rooney needed 45 stitches to his ear after an accident aboard a yacht he is currently holidaying on.

17th May 09 - Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal
Manchester United's record equaling title win at Old Trafford came against Arsenal yesterday. The performance may not have been as good as they were hoping but they did enough to bag a hat trick of Premiership titles. Wayne Rooney's contribution over the course of the season has been superb as usual, scoring vital goals and making a fantastic contribution to the team. Rooney and Ronaldo have been at the heart of the majority of attacks United have put together this season and can now look forward to a trip to Rome.
28th March 09 - England 4-0 Slovakia
Wayne Rooney scored twice as England breezed past a lackluster Slovakia side. The score line flattered the visitors and if England had been more clinical in front of goal it would have been more. Emile Heskey opened the scoring before going off injured shortly afterwards. Rooney put England 2-0 up heading in a trade mark cross from the record breaking capped outfield player David Beckham. Frank Lampard tucked away number three before Rooney completed the rout with a nice touch with his right root then scoring with his left.
